The Magazine Article

  • Clue 1
You will need another sheet of paper to solve this puzzle. Can you see one which looks similar?
  • Clue 2
What could the numbers on the balloons mean? Could they refer to letters in the text which may spell out something?
  • Reveal the answer
    7. The numbers on the balloons refer to LINE, WORD, LETTER IN WORD within the text of the magazine article. So, 3,1,9 in the first balloon is Third line of the text, first word (relationships) and ninth letter (S). Do this for every balloon and you will find the word SEVEN.

Which picture is next to the entrance which leads to the center of the maze? Have you seen this elsewhere? How many times?
  • Reveal the answer
    6. The maze entrance with the blue present is the only one which leads to the center. Throughout the game, you will see the blue present 6 times in total: next to the maze in the present puzzle, under ‘Surprise!’ on the story sheet, on the wooden signpost for the surprise party, next to the recipe title on puzzle 2 (two times) and on the magazine article which goes with puzzle 4.

The Sweet Treats Menu

  • Clue 1
The post-it note on the top right holds the key.
  • Clue 2
Remember, you are looking for a number. What would the total cost be of the order written on the post-it note?
  • Reveal the answer
    36. The order for the surprise party is 3 raspberry croissants ($15) + 2 caramel croissants ($10) + 1 triple chocolate brownie ($5). In total this equals $30. As the bottom of the menu specifies an additional 20% tax, you must add this on. This gives you the total cost of $36.

The Party Bunting

  • Clue 1
You will need another sheet of paper to solve this puzzle. Can you see one which looks similar?
  • Clue 2
What can you see on the bunting at the top of puzzle 7? Can you see this anywhere else?
  • Reveal the answer
    3. The pictures in the bunting on puzzle 7 are snapshots of areas of the image of the party (with black letters on it). Each piece of bunting shows you an area of the corresponding party image you must look at to see what letter appears inside it. The first image of the party hat has a T in it on the corresponding party image. Carry on this way and you will spell out THREE.
